Tasting Notes
From a tiny, 1 hectare parcel of Ironstone rich soil on the eastern side of Hazel’s Vineyard, this 2022 Tempranillo shows its signature pedigree from the start: fragrant violets, dark cherries, sarsaparilla, and a touch of savoury black olive. The palate is juicy and incredibly appealing with loads of red and dark cherries, allspice, cured meats and dark chocolate flavours leading to a distinctive tannin profile and a deliciously dry finish.

Wine Making
TThe fruit for our Tempranillo was hand-picked and gently destemmed to maintain the integrity of the berries. The wine was then softly pressed to small neutral oak for maturation which lasted for about 10 months. In order to capture the beautiful aromatics of this exciting
Vintage Report
A season that slowly escalated into a very hectic but also exciting harvest. A cooler and wet Spring saw vine growth delayed in development, and we were set for a late start of harvest. But then Summer came, and it was full of sunshine, dry and warm through December, January, and February with warm days and some warm nights.
The red harvest started about a week after the end of the whites, giving our busy cellar team very little time to catch their breath. Yields were lower than expected across red varietals as well, however the warm and dry weather created desirable conditions for our reds that are already showcasing fantastic tannin ripeness, concentration, and vibrancy of colour.
